Microblading Q & A

What is microblading?

Microblading is a long-lasting cosmetic procedure for shaping your eyebrows. If you fill your eyebrows with a pencil, pomade, or powder every day, microblading allows you to skip this step in your morning routine and enjoy semi-permanently perfect brows.

If you’d like an even shorter makeup routine or if applying makeup is difficult for you because of a disability, Jana HealthCare offers other forms of permanent makeup. With permanent makeup, you can:

  • Shape your lips
  • Color your lips
  • Line your eyes
  • Conceal scars
  • Add to your hairline
  • Add pigment or shape to your areola

Microblading and other types of permanent makeup are also a great option for patients with an active lifestyle. If you swim or sweat a lot, permanent makeup lets you look your best while staying active.

What can I expect at my microblading appointment?

Before the microblading procedure begins, you’ll discuss your preferred eyebrow shape and tint with your esthetician at Jana HealthCare. You may also ask any questions that you have about the treatment. Be prepared for a procedure that lasts for up to two hours if you’re getting both brows done.

When you’re ready, your esthetician applies a numbing cream or gel to your eyebrows to keep you comfortable and at ease.

Then, she uses a thin blade and some pigment to meticulously draw each hair to create a defined but natural-looking brow. You might feel a scratching sensation from the tool, but most patients say that it isn’t painful or hard to tolerate.

How long do the results of microblading last?

While microblading is similar to a tattoo, the pigment is less deep in your skin and fades over time. Depending on your skin type, age, and other factors, your results last between one and three years.

After your first appointment, you’ll need to book a touch-up appointment at least four weeks later. At this point, your esthetician can fill in areas of color that didn’t hold or adjust the shape and fill.

If you’d like to look your best upon waking up and shorten your morning beauty routine, call Jana HealthCare or book your consultation online to explore microblading and other options for permanent makeup.
