Microneedling Q & A

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that Dr. Farhat uses to improve your skin. The treatment minimizes or eradicates imperfections by creating tiny injuries in your skin. Your body naturally heals these injuries to give your skin a flawless finish.

At Jana HealthCare, Dr. Farhat uses Dermapen®, a microneedling tool that looks like a pen, for even delivery across your specified skin area. The 11 tiny disposable needles in the pen are spring-loaded to give each puncture a consistent depth.

How does microneedling work?

When the small needles on the microneedling device puncture your skin, your skin produces extra collagen and other healing proteins to continue repairing acne scars, injury scars, and sun damage.

Collagen itself is an important protein that keeps your skin smooth and firm, but you don’t produce as much of it when you get older.

Your new skin tissues produced as a response to microneedling make your skin look and feel younger and smoother. Because of this, many patients choose microneedling to help counter the physical signs of aging.

How can microneedling improve my skin?

No matter what type of skin imperfections bother you, microneedling rejuvenates your skin and improves its appearance.

Common skin imperfections that patients target with microneedling include:

  • Acne scars
  • Surgical scars
  • Keloid scars
  • Sun spots
  • Wrinkles and lines
  • Skin looseness
  • Large pores
  • Stretch marks

While your face is the most noticeable place for acne scars and other blemishes, you can get microneedling treatments on other areas of your body, too.

The list of applications for Dermapen microneedling is growing, so Dr. Farhat can help you decide if the procedure is your best option for other skin issues, too.

Am I a good candidate for microneedling?

Dermapen microneedling procedures are safe for nearly anyone, regardless of your skin type. In fact, you can even get microneedling on areas of thin or weak skin because of Dermapen’s accuracy and consistency.

Dr. Farhat may determine that you’re a candidate if you:

  • Want to improve your skin
  • Aren’t pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Can commit to at least three sessions
  • Don’t have any conditions that impede your healing process

The only way to be sure that you’re a candidate is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Farhat. During your chat, you’ll discuss your medical history, medications you take, and your ideal results.

Microneedling with Dermapen is allowing men and women to enjoy clear and firmer skin as they age. Call Jana HealthCare or book a consultation online to find out if the treatment is right for you.
