About Jana Healthcare
Kiran Mushtaq’s journey into the world of nutrition began with a deeply personal experience. As a teenager immigrating to the United States, she encountered a new culture, unfamiliar foods, and the challenge of finding balance between tradition and assimilation. Like many families adapting to American life, hers adopted dietary habits that seemed to fit in—but took a toll on their health.
When her mother became borderline diabetic, a referral to a registered dietitian opened their eyes. That life-changing encounter inspired Kiran to pursue a career where she could offer others the same guidance, education, and hope.
Kiran committed to becoming a registered dietitian early in her academic journey. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition from Hunter College in 2012, then advanced to graduate studies at the CUNY School of Public Health, where she completed her Master’s Degree in 2017.
Her supervised clinical practice took place at two of Brooklyn’s most respected hospitals—Maimonides Medical Center and NYU Lutheran Hospital—where she worked with patients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Kiran’s own experience as an immigrant deeply informs her practice. She understands that food is more than nourishment—it’s culture, identity, and family. That’s why she specializes in helping patients from all walks of life make sustainable, healthy changes without sacrificing the flavors and traditions they love.
Fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi, Kiran is passionate about bridging language gaps in healthcare and improving outcomes for patients who may feel misunderstood or overlooked.
At Jana HealthCare, Kiran provides personalized nutrition counseling, weight loss support, and culturally sensitive health coaching. Her goal is to educate and empower individuals and families to make informed, confident choices about their diet and lifestyle—so they can lead healthier, happier lives.
Kiran and the JanaHealthCare team believe that knowledge is power—and that everyone deserves access to the tools needed for lasting wellness, regardless of language, background, or past habits.
